1. Overview

toksum.dev ("we", "our", "us") operates the AI API cost calculator at https://toksum.dev. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

We are committed to collecting as little data as possible. All cost calculations run entirely in your browser — no inputs are sent to our servers.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Cloudflare Analytics is privacy-first: it does not use cookies, does not track individuals across sites, and does not sell data. It collects aggregated metrics (page views, referrers, browser type, country).

2b. Calculator Inputs

All token counts, model selections, and cost estimates you enter are processed locally in your browser. We do not store or transmit these values.

2c. Pro Account (if applicable)

If you create a Pro account, we collect your email address for authentication and billing via our payment processor (Polar.sh or Stripe). Payment card details are handled exclusively by the payment processor and are never stored on our servers.

3. Cookies

We currently set no tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookie used is a strictly necessary session cookie (__Host-toksum_sid) for logged-in Pro subscribers — this expires when you sign out or after 30 days.

When Google AdSense is activated on the Free tier, additional cookies may be set for advertising purposes — but only after you provide explicit consent via the CMP banner (Google Funding Choices). Pro subscribers never see ads and never have advertising cookies set on their sessions.

4. Third-Party Services

• Cloudflare — CDN, DDoS protection, and cookieless web analytics. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
• Polar.sh / Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. Card details handled exclusively by the payment processor and never stored on our servers.
• Google AdSense (activating soon) — display advertising on the Free tier. When activated, AdSense may use cookies and browsing data to show relevant ads. We will request your consent via Google's Funding Choices CMP before any personalized advertising tracking begins. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time via Google Ad Settings. Pro subscribers do not have AdSense loaded for their sessions.
• Carbon Ads or EthicalAds (potential future addition) — developer-targeted ad networks that may replace or supplement AdSense once traffic supports them. The same consent and opt-out principles apply.

5. Data Retention

Cloudflare Analytics data is aggregated and anonymized — no personal data is retained. If you delete your Pro account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

6. Your Rights
